Madam Teh Beng Khim (“Madam Teh”) was appointed as Executive Vice Chairman of SLU in 2019. In this capacity, she advises the company on administrative and finance related matters of the company
Madam Teh holds Private Secretary’s Certificates from The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a Higher Secretarial Group Certificate from Pitman Examinations Institute London, and a Diploma in Private Secretaryship from Goon Institution School. She also holds a CAM Certificate in Communications, Advertising and Marketing from the Malaysian Advertising Association & Association of Accredited Advertising Agents (“MAA/4As”) Joint Education Committee, and a Practical Financial Analysis Certificate for Credit Controllers from the Association of Credit Management.
Madam Teh has over 50 years of experience in administrative, finance, advertising, marketing communications, public relations, credit/treasury management, besides company secretarial duties. She began her career in 1972 with one of the Lee Yan Yan group of companies, before joining United Manufacturers Sdn. Bhd., to organise the Personnel Department and oversee the Shipping and Insurance Department. She then served as Confidential Secretary to the directors at D & C Nomura Merchant Bankers Berhad, before joining Hanafiah, Raslan & Mohamad, a prominent Malaysian chartered accounting firm, where she gained experience in Company Secretarial Duties, Formation of Cos, Liquidation, Receivership and statutory Filing and then later joined BP Malaysia, working with the Chief Accountan /Operations Manager and then promoted to assist the General Manager.
In 1980, Madam Teh joined Dow Chemicals Pacific Ltd. (Dow) where she was promoted to Marketing Communications Executive, a newly created role responsible for the company’s public relations and advertising. She was recognised as the inaugural AGA 86 Champion of Innovation by Dow Asia Region for promoting agricultural products in Malaysia. Madam Teh also gained experience in the launching of pharmaceutical product under Merrell Dow. Madam Teh was later transferred to Pacific Chemicals Berhad and gained further experience in credit/treasury management as Marketing Communications Executive.
Madam Teh joined Unitrade in 1993 as Executive Director, responsible for administrative and finance matters. In 2008, she was promoted to Deputy Managing Director, overseeing finance and administration, before being redesignated as Executive Vice Chairman in 2019. She has been instrumental in introducing the Group’s TQM and 5S practices, leading key personnel on training visits to the Group’s supplier in Thailand, implementing internal control processes across customer service, purchasing, warehousing and credit control, and compiling the Employee Handbook.
Madam Teh is the spouse of Mr. Sim Keng Chor, the sisterin-law of Mr. Sim Aik Chor and Mr. Sim Yung Chi, and the mother of Mr. Nomis Sim Siang Leng and Mr. Simson Sim Xian Zhi.
